Now that’s something unheard of. Even more surprising is the anonymity of the manufacturer, Mlais. But who cares, as long as they are able to churn out smartphones with these kinds of specs.
Very little is known about Mlais, even a quick check on their website reveals very little. Well, other than they are from Shenzhen, China.
The M7 is your average-sized device with a 149.5 x 76.8 x 8.6 mm measurement. But with a metal body finish adds a touch of elegance and even then, there’s the Gorilla Glass 3 which lends its fair share of protection. They go out of their way to equip the smartphone with these two.
Sporting a 5.5-inch High Definition IPS capacitive touchscreen, it does feel like a mismatch, though. The high definition resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels doesn’t do justice to its huge screen. Well, at least the IPS screen help to make it slightly better and you should be able to share the screen with a friend or two.
Another good move by Mlais is what is found under the hood of the M7. With a Mediatek MTK6752 Octa-core 1.7 Ghz 64-bit processor, ARM Mali-T760 graphics and 3GB RAM on-hand, there’s more than enough firepower here. It is quite amazing what it can do and surely you won’t face any issues running all the latest apps and games that are out there in the market.
Another interesting thing about the M7 is that it comes with a 13 Megapixel primary camera that is supported by Sony’s IMX135 stacked sensor. The 6-element lens, chroma flash lets you take amazing pictures; whether it is in the dark, while in motion or under any situation. Then there’s the 5 Megapixel secondary camera that lets you take good-looking selfies to be posted to your favorite social media. It is shaping up to be a very capable point-and-shoot camera indeed.
Taking lots of photos and/or videos do require a significant amount of storage. There should be plenty of it with the M7’s 16GB internal storage which can be further upgraded to a maximum of 64GB via its microSD expansion slot.
With Android Lollipop 5.0 at the heart of it, you can be sure of getting all the features and improved performance that comes along with the latest operating system.
All that is backed up by a 2600mAh removable lithium polymer battery that should be more than capable of supplying at least a day’s of usage particularly if you’re not a heavy user.
Last but not least, it does come with 4G LTE connectivity and dual-sim capability that is a nice addition to the M7.
Coming from a relatively unknown Chinese manufacturer, we surely don’t know what to expect from them. But judging by what we saw on paper at least, there are a lot of good things going on for the Mlais M7. Perhaps our friend in China would be able to release it out to the international market, for us to test it out personally. At the moment, a little bit of exposure would do them a lot of good it seems.
The Mlais M7 is said to be available in China for approximately $189.99 USD and is available in black and white.
