We haven’t heard a lot from Mlais lately, one of the many Chinese smartphone startups that’s been making a name for itself this year. We’ve reviewed a number of Mlais’ devices including their latest flagship, the Mlais M7, but what about those looking to spend a little less for a device? That’s where the Mlais MX Base comes in, a phone that drops the specs just a hair and manages to keep the price range incredibly low. In fact the phone was just available last month for $99 on a flash sale, something that Chinese and Indian OEMs are well known for doing.
Alors que nous avions précédemment testé le modèle M52 Red Note du même constructeur, nous allons aujourd'hui nous intéresser à un nouveau modèle : le M7. Ce smartphone, qui propose un bel écran HD 5,5 pouces, a de quoi séduire. Faisons ensemble un petit d'horizon de l'appareil.
Les caractéristiques du Mlais M7
Outre son écran 5.5' HD IPS OG d'une résolution de HD 1280×720. Premier regret : l'écran n'est donc pas Full HD. Quant au CPU, on retrouve le même MTK6752 octo-core 64 bits cadencé à 1.7GHz qui équipait le M52 Red Note, lui aussi épaulé par un GPU Mali-T760. Enfin, l'appareil est équipé de 16Go de ROM et 3Go de RAM avec la possibilité d'ajout d'une micro-SD.
Côté soft, on retrouve un Android 5.0 lollipop parfaitement fluide et réactif. Le joli score obtenu sous AnTuTu est de 45122.
La batterie, d'une capacité de 2600mAh, permet de dépasser la journée dans des conditions normales d'utilisation. La caméra arrière (une SONY IMX135) possède une définition de 13 mégapixels. Sur la face avant, on trouve un capteur de 5 mégapixels. La connectivité est classique mais complète : WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS et FULL 4G LTE (compatible avec les fréquences française !).
Lecteur d'empreinte digitale intégré
La particularité du Mlais M7 est son lecteur d'empreinte digitale situé au dos de l'appareil. Ce lecteur biométrique permet, une fois configuré, de débloquer l'appareil d'une simple apposition de son doigt à l'arrière de l'appareil.
Si l'emplacement de ce lecteur peut surprendre au premier abord, il s'avère que sa position est bien pensée puisque, lors de la prise en main du smartphone, l'index vient naturellement prendre place sur le lecteur. Il est alors très simple de débloquer l'appareil lors de sa prise en main.
Disponible ici aux alentours des 170€, le Mlais est un appareil séduisant, puissant et offrant un rapport qualité/prix des plus intéressants.

Thanks for the video, looking forward to the full review. I've got one on (pre-)order from Gearbest. Please include some (graphics) benchmarks, a GPS test, and check the maximum cpu frequency as there seem to be a lot of poor perfoming 1Ghz MT6735 Socs out there. Allthough your preliminary Antutu score of 27.000 seems to indicate the MX Base is running at the full 1.3Ghz.

Die Spezifikationen sind ja schon länger bekannt, aber wir fassen diese nochmal kurz für euch zusammen.
Die Basis bildet der beliebte 64-Bit MT6752 Acht-Kern Prozessor mit 1,7 GHz von MediaTek, der hohe Leistung zum kleinen Preis verspricht. In der Kombination mit einer ARM Mali-T760 GPU, 3GB RAM und 16 GB On Bord Speicher (erweiterbar per SD Karte von bis zu 64GB) gibt das M7 hier richtig Gas und kommt bei AnTuTu auf einen Wert von über 48000 Punkten!
Nach den ausgezeichneten Displays des Mlais M52 und Mlais M4 ist davon auszugehen, dass auch dieses Mal wieder ein sehr gutes 5,5-Zoll IPS OGS Display mit einer 720p-Auflösung (HD) im Mlais M7seinen Platz finden wird. Hier hat man in der Vergangenheit bereits ein ausgezeichnetes Händchen bei der Auswahl des Display-Lieferanten bewiesen.
Wie uns Mlais zusicherte, wird im Mlais M7 ein „echter“ 13 Megapixel Sensor von Sony (IMX135) als Hauptkamera verbaut sein und Frontkamera soll über einen 88° Weitwinkel verfügen.
Natürlich unterstützt das M7 von Mlais auch die gängigen europäischen LTE Frequenzen, genauer gesagt – FDD-LTE: B1/3/7/20 (800/1800/2100/2600) und es gibt ebenfalls Platz für 2 SIM-Karten (1x Micro, 1x Big).
WLAN, A-GPS, Lichtsensor, G-Sensor, P-Pensor und eine umfangreiche Gestensteuerung gehören ebenso zum Ausstattungsumfang des Mlais M7. Was wir natürlich auch nicht verschweigen wollen ist der wechselbare 2.600mAh Akku. Ob dieser für den „normalen“ Arbeitstag des M7 ausreichend dimensioniert ist, wird sich allerdings noch zeigen müssen.
Und nun wie immer das Beste zum Schluss! Mlais hat dem M7 einen 360° Fingerabdruck-Scanner spendiert. Dieser soll schnell und zuverlässig aus jedem Winkel den Fingerabdruck seines Besitzers erkennen und dann beispielsweise das M7 entsperren.

Chinese smartphones are usually not as popular because people have this preconception, I’m inclined to call it stigma towards them. In the past, Chinese companies had made themselves a bad reputation for making cheap quality devices that don’t last very much and that seems to have stuck with them in the international tech community. What we need not forget is that they’ve changed and Chinese smartphone manufacturers are upping their game. A good example of upping the game would be Mlais, a Chinese company that has been manufacturing high quality smartphones for quite a while now and has recently launched a rather impressive Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphone, the Mlais M7.
The Mlais M7 is between a mid-range smartphone and a flagship and can be considered a very honorable example of a good, yet cheap smartphone. OnePlus started the bang for buck bar with the OnePlus One and Chinese companies like Mlais are doing the same thing, only with more options. Mlais has a wide selection of smartphones for every pocket and every preference, and the Mlais M7 is one of their newest releases.
Aside from being a stylish little critter, the Mlais M7 is also powerful and equipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop. One thing that’s truly awesome when it comes to Mlais as a company is that they don’t really fill up your new phone with bloatware. Aside from the usual clock and messaging apps, there won’t be much to bother you if you buy a Mlais M7. There’s very little skinning done so you get a near-stock experience, similar to what you would get on a Motorola smartphone and that’s a big plus for Mlais in my book at least.
Flagship smartphones and even mid-range smartphones from companies like Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola tend to cost a bit much, not to mention Apple’s iPhone line-up. The Mlais M7 price is only $190 and you get an unlocked dual-SIM unit with a fingerprint sensor and LTE, so that’s already a good deal in my opinion. Smartphones with fingerprint sensors, like the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 4, HTC One M9 Plus and Meizu MX4 usually go above the $400 mark, so you’re getting great security with the Mlais M7 for less than half that price.
Moreover, the design of the Mlais M7 encompasses all the trends that are en vogue right now, such a phablet format, a good selfie camera, metal frame, slim and sleek design, thin bezels and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Mlais M7 is now up for pre-order for $190 and te presale ends on May 31, so if you’re interested in upgrading to a high-end Chinese smartphone with a design that will definitely appeal to you, it’s now or never!
When it comes to specs, you won’t be disappointed. First off, the Mlais M7 display is a 5.5 inch IPS display with a 1280*720 resolution. That doesn’t sound like much on paper, but the display in person is actually very bright, sharp and neat. In bright sunlight, you will struggle with it a bit, though, but not as much as to make it unusable. As with any smartphone with a good price, there are trade-offs and the display of the Mlais M7 is one of them. But it’s an acceptable trade-off and most of you, who don’t need a QHD display to use VR glasses or have super-high quality 4K viewing experiences.
Moving on, the Mlais M7 gets a Mediatek MTK6752 64 bit CPU clocked at 1.7 GHz, backed by 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, which is expandable through a microSD card. The main camera is a 13 MP shooter complete with a flash and AF, while the front camera is a 5 MP shooter. The fact that there’s 4G LTE included is once again, a plus for this phone and makes its bang for buck pretty good. The battery life of the device is above average thanks to the 2600 mAh battery and the slightly inferior display. You’ll get a decent two days of use out of the Mlais M7, provided that you’re a moderate user. As a daily driver, it handles itself well, although if you’re using 4G LTE all day, you’ll probably have to charge at night.
The phone itself is lightweight at 160 grams, although it’s heavier than other flagships out there. Although heavy, the Mlais M7 feels great in the hand and the thin bezels around the screen truly look appealing no matter how you look at them. Even though the Mlais M7 isn’t a mainstream smartphone, it does offer an experience that’s simple, powerful and near to stock, thanks to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s a good investment and for the $190 price, it’s a steal in my opinion. Moreover, the price is fitting because in case you don’t like the phone, you won’t have lost too much and can resell for about the same amount if that’s how you roll. But I doubt that the average smartphone user will not like the Mlais M7. Go ahead and check it out and let us know what you think about it.
